About Everbloom

Meet Dianne, Resin flower artist

Based in Kerikeri in the Bay of Islands, Dianne can preserve flowers from all over New Zealand. She’ll work closely with you to ensure the process is as smooth as possible.

An artist with a love of nature, Dianne grew up around flowers. Her grandparents owned the first Interflora in Auckland, so when it comes to preserving your special flowers, she knows her petals! Dianne was using resin to coat painted snowboards, when a friend asked if she could preserve her wedding flowers in resin so that she could share them with her family as gifts. And so - after much experimenting and quite a bit of trial and error - Dianne’s love for creating floral keepsakes became Everbloom.

About Resin flower preservation

Everbloom’s flower preservation process is a meticulous artform. From drying your flowers in silica sand for several weeks through to pouring resin in careful layers, it’s a true labour of love! Because of this, we can only take a small number of bookings at a time. We highly recommend booking your date in advance to avoid disappointment.

Choosing the best flowers for preserving in resin

Dianne can work with most wedding and occasion flower types, including roses, peonies, poppies, hydrangeas and many more - although red roses will darken in colour, while white roses may take on a yellow tone. Flowers with a high-water content, such as orchids or succulents, can be more challenging to dry out.

It’s best to have a chat with Dianne as soon as you start planning your special day if you’re interested in creating some floral keepsakes.

Shipping your occasion flowers to Everbloom

We want to get started on preserving your flowers while they’re still at their very best, so it’s important that we receive them as soon as possible after your event (24 - 48 hours is ideal). We use a unique technique to dry your flowers while preserving their colours, and this process only works if the flowers are not starting to wilt. The way your flowers are handled during this time is also very important, as bruised petals may show up with spots after the resin sets, so it’s best to entrust your flowers to someone who will care for them and get them into water as soon as possible.

We’ll work with you to set up a plan for getting your flowers to us - either by arranging collection or drop-off if you’re in the Bay of Islands, or booking a courier service from elsewhere in New Zealand.

Drying your flowers

Once received, Dianne will slowly dry your flowers in silica sand, ensuring that they keep their shape and colour. After several weeks, once they are dry enough to start the process, she will create a design for your resin piece.

Resin encasing your flowers

Everbloom uses a high-quality resin that is UV-resistant, anti-yellowing and bubble-resistant. The process of pouring resin is slow and meticulous - each layer is poured individually and requires 24 hours to cure at a controlled temperature.

This ensures your flowers aren’t burnt or damaged in the process, and prevents excessive bubbles (a natural part of the process). Because the resin is poured in layers, you may be able to see a thin line of the layers from the side, but this does not affect the outlook of the piece.
